Sandy Mitchell - Sound & Lighting Engineer
Born 20/04/63 Alloa, Scotland.
I joined THE RICK SHEEHAN SHOW IN 1994. My background - My heroes and influences are from an era filled with wild rock stars and Bands, far removed from what I now do for a living! As a young man my friends and I would enjoy music from bands such as Pink Floyd, Genesis, Led Zepplin etc and at the age of 16 we decided to start a band. Over the next 10 years we had a relative success playing wherever and whenever we could, we did not do it for the money, but for the love of the music we played.
Anyway all good things come to an end and my drumming days came to a close, now I can say been there and done that! My roll with THE RICK SHEEHAN SHOW is as a sound and light engineer. I do however play an integral part in the production and content of any new material that is to be included in the show. We are always utilizing new ideas and gathering inspiration especially when we are on the road. That's when most of our script writing and rehearsals are done.
When it comes to new material, it is very difficult to keep it funny and in vogue. There are simply not as many colorful characters as there were in the past and I don’t think impersonating some one from pop idols, or big brother would have the same effect as doing some one like Freddie Mercury for example.
What we do is to try and keep it fresh and up to date.
But quality takes time and new characters have got to be right and fit into the jigsaw.
